We invest in environmental friendliness and developing technology
Suomen Lauttaliikenne Oy, in everyday use Finferries, is a Finnish state-owned shipping company responsible for ferry, commuter ferry and cable ferry traffic. Our 51 routes are located in beautiful archipelago and lake landscapes, from Utö in the Turku archipelago to Kemijärvi in Lapland. You can check out our routes here.
Our offices are located in Turku and in Savonlinna.
We care about our people
Finferries is a responsible, reliable, and fair employer that also enables long careers. Currently, we employ over 350 people, and each of our employees is important to us. We want our personnel to enjoy their work while providing the best possible passenger service to our customers.
We offer our employees a variety of employment benefits, such as comprehensive occupational health care, the opportunity for a company bike, and a wide range of recreational benefits. We care about our personnel and we have an early support model in place, and sobriety at work is a requirement for us. Our working languages are Finnish and Swedish.
Values guide our daily work. One of the values of our new strategy is community, which means that we actively invest in the well-being and skill development of our personnel, as well as in openness and good cooperation with both personnel and stakeholders.
Working together and listening to our personnel further strengthens the Finferries spirit. We regularly organize joint events for all personnel. At our Turku office, we have organized "Bring Your Children to Work" days and we have also participated in the annual Job Shadow Day. Our responsibility campaign began in 2023 and continued in 2024, during which we distributed 5,000 Finferries reflectors on all our routes.
Finferries' vision
We aim to be a pioneer in emission-free water transport.
We are renewing our fleet and investing in environmentally friendly vessels, such as the battery-hybrid ferries Elektra and Altera operating on the Parainen–Nauvo route, and the battery-hybrid cable ferries operating on the Nauvo-Korppoo route and on the Vartsala route. With us, you will get to delve into developing technology that helps us move towards low-emission vessel traffic.
We are also pioneers in the electrification of vessels in Finland, working with developing technology to improve both safety and the environment. What water separates, Finferries connects – responsibly and with care for the environment.
